I visited Edisto Island, about a month ago, after hearing about it from a friend. I was truly impressed with the State park campgrounds, and the general area. The beaches are lovely, and not crowded at all. I liked my first visit so much that I’m returning later in August.

It is a very quiet place where you can enjoy the beach, great seafood and local attractions as they are. I went there for the first time at 10 and had a great time with my family.

At the same time I will say that if you are looking to dump the kids and hope they get into something good, don’t pick Edisto Beach. It requires total family involvment.

Thinking of going to edisto island in July. I like that it’s a quiet place to go,but is there enough there for 12year olds to keep busy.

I grew up in the area and although I’m currently living away we come back every year. I’ve had the great fortune of instilling my love of Edisto in my daughter. We hope to be taking our grandchildren one day!

My family has been going for 20+ years. It is the perfect family vacation spot. Never too crowded. In my college years i was always looking for college students and could never find them (haha). It’s definitely more family oriented. We tend to go late summer, but anytime is good. Late summer is a good time to get the deals as well!

Edisto Beach won my heart 15 years ago. I enjoy the bicycle path.. love to ride and look at all the beach homes and lovely yards. It is a laid back beach enviroment .. but at the same time.. restaurants , seafood, and groceries are within 5 minutes.. Love Edisto Beach.

I am looking for a family vacation. Does it get very crowded in Edisto? Are there a lot of teenagers/college students? Basically how quiet, secluded, etc. any information would be great. I am not a person for a lot of crowds.

Also, when is a good time of the year to go when it is not crowded (busy)?

My family and I have been vacationing at Edisto for over 30 years and keep coming back! We’ve rented through all the agencies on the island and have been please with each of them. This year we plan to go back to “beach front”. We’re going Friday to do some house hunting! I love the uncomercialization of Edisto and the family atmosphere that we have experienced over the years at Edisto. All I can say is “stay the way you are”.
