Summer is on its way and that means activities are heating up on Edisto Beach.
The Arts and Crafts Market at Bay Creek Park is open again every Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. If you’ve yet to come out to the market, stop by during your next visit to see some of the best local arts and crafts in the area.
Another fun summery event that happens Friday, Saturday and Sundays throughout the season is Music at the Marina. Come out from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. for music and food on the dock located at 3702 Docksite Road. This event is free and open to the public, but outside beverages are prohibited, so leave the coolers at home. Visit www.themarinaeb.com for more information about the marina and events held at that location.
Next weekend, head out to the marina for the third annual Dolphin Slam. This event begins at noon and there will be plenty of food and music on the dock. Even if you aren’t participating in the event, everyone is welcome to come out and join in on the fun.
This offshore fishing tournament pits Edisto fishermen against those from Bohicket Marina, which is located on nearby Seabrook Island.
Live music from the Straight Shooters begins at 6 p.m.
There’s also trivia on Wednesday and Thursday nights. Wednesday night trivia starts at 7:30 p.m. at Whaley’s, which is located at 2801 Myrtle St. Thursday night trivia takes place at the Edisto Coffee Shop located at 3731 Docksite Road. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and trivia starts at 6 p.m.
There will be even more events and activities happening at the beach as the season begins.
As always, remember to keep Edisto clean and beautiful all throughout the year, but especially during high season when numerous people come to the island. That way we can all continue to enjoy this piece of paradise for generations to come.
