Dockside Bar & Grill

Ditch your fancy get up and break out the shorts and the flip flops (also, please wear a shirt) for this unpretentious beachy dive. Dockside Bar & Grill is a no-frills hole-in-the-wall Southern seafood restaurant and local hangout spot located at 3730 Dock Site Rd., featuring amazing meals and beautiful waterfront views overlooking Big Bay Creek. Open for dinner Monday-Saturday (closed Sundays), they offer indoor and outdoor dockside seating and regularly showcase live music on the outside deck. If you time it right, you might catch a stunning sunset or glimpse a dolphin or two swimming in the creek.

Cast your hunger net around one of their delicious “Bait” appetizers, such as the Tuna Bites, blackened and served with a tequila lime pepper glaze, or try their twist on a Lowcountry favorite in the Captain’s Crab Dip: crab meat, cream cheese and bacon topped with their secret glaze and served with warm pita chips. Dive into the seafood nachos, layered with shrimp and crab, queso, sour cream, pico, and salsa. Switch up your regular fried fare routine with their Gator Bites served with sweet chili sauce or the Jalapeno Hushpuppies.

Their “Chill Bar” offers oysters served on the half shell or shrimp cocktail, both sold by the dozen. The main entrees consist primarily of seafood, including fried flounder or fried oysters, shrimp (fried or grilled), and scallops (fried or grilled). Each comes as baskets served with French fries and coleslaw. You can combine these items for additional upcharges, with the Captain’s Platter merging all four into one massive meal.

If you’re looking for an enormous sandwich instead, reward your taste buds with their unique Dockside Surf n’ Turf Burger, a patty topped with shrimp, pimento cheese, and sauteed onions. You can also choose from one of their Old Bay Po’Boys (shrimp or oysters) drizzled in a Lowcountry remoulade, or the Flounder Sandwich served with tartar sauce.

Tuck your surf or turf into a warm tortilla blanket with their three taco selections of fried fish, grilled chicken, and grilled shrimp, the latter two of which can be converted to Buffalo-style for a small extra cost.

Their salads come as either a side or an entrée and feature an essential mix of greens, cucumbers, tomatoes, carrots, cheese, shrimp, oysters, tuna bites, or grilled chicken be added at an additional price.

Dockside’s “Minnows Menu” accommodates your little fish with options like grilled cheese, chicken tenders, fried shrimp, fried flounder, and corn dog baskets.

Sodas, lemonade, iced tea, and coffee are available to drink, along with full bar service dispensing beer and cocktails for the adults. Should you decide to extend your stay, Dockside is also a chill late-night spot with a bar, pool table, and TVs showing the games.

This is no fancy dining joint, but if you’re on the hunt for tasty seafood, friendly service, and fun times in a relaxed, gorgeous setting, Dockside Bar & Grill is a must-visit while in Edisto.
