Chili Cook-off & Blood Drive This Weekend
Whaleys Chili Cook Off
Its about that time again when Edistonians come out to test their chili making skills.
This Saturday, gather at Whaleys to see who has the best chili on the island during the annual Chili Cook Off event. This event features live music, buckets of beer, drink specials, oyster roasts, and, of course, chili tasting.
To participate, there is a $20 entry fee and you can register by going to Whaleys prior to the event. The cook off starts at 3 p.m. and judging will follow at 5 p.m. Cash prizes and trophies will be given for whatever chili is ranked the best by the people, judges, and the bottom of the pot.
If you want to attend the event without making your own chili, all you need to do is purchase 50 cent tasting tickets. All tickets used will be counted as a vote.
Of course Whaleys is open for business as usual during this epic event, so if youre in town, head out to experience the fun.
In addition to the chili cook off, there are a few more events happening this weekend.
This Saturday there will be a blood drive from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Edisto Beach Baptist Church. This blood drive is in memory of Nancie Green who was an avid volunteer and supporter of Edisto Island.
On Sunday, the annual members meeting and reception for the Edisto Island Historic Preservation Society will take place at the Edisto Island Museum. This event takes places from 1:30 to 3 p.m.
Let us know if you attend any of these events and feel free to share pictures on our social media pages. Were looking forward to another great weekend on Edisto Beach!
