Edisto Beach Halloween Events

Edisto Beach Vacation Homes

What is arguably the best season of the year is upon us. That’s right, it’s the Halloween season (otherwise known as fall or autumn, depending on what you like to call this time frame of heavenly weather).

Some of my favorite things to do on Edisto involve having a bonfire in our fire pit (remember, you’re never allowed to have a fire on the actual beach), carving pumpkins and roasting the seeds, and going to haunted events in Charleston and the surrounding area.

The best haunted attraction by far has got to be Boone Hall’s Fright Nights. This is a yearly event that attracts thousands upon thousands of visitors each year.

What happens is this: The state’s oldest working plantation transforms into the largest Halloween attraction around. This year, there’s a zombie town, haunted castle, 3-D clown experience (which is awful if you hate clowns), and a haunted hayride. Everything is set up on the grounds of the plantation in fields that are already harvested.

Visitors can pick and choose what attractions they go to or buy a discounted pass to go to all four. You can even spend an extra $10 and get a special pass so that you can skip the lines.

I’ve already hit up Fright Night this year and it was awesome. I’d share my experiences with you all in detail, but I’m sure you’d rather experience it yourself. Just know that I screamed so much my throat hurt and I laughed so much as my screaming that my face hurt from smiling.

If you’d rather stay close to home to have your fun and are visiting Edisto or live here full time, then you can get your fill during the Halloween Costume Contest at McConkey’s Jungle Shack. This will take place at 5:30 pm. Thursday, Oct. 31 and is one of the most popular Edisto Beach Halloween events.

The contest is for children ages 0-12. A doggie costume contest will follow at 6:30 p.m. Winners of both contests will receive prizes.

In addition to the contest, the Town of Edisto Beach will host Trick or Treat at the Creek from 6-8 p.m Oct. 25 at Bay Creek Park. There will be a costume contest at 7 p.m. that day. There will also be games and prizes.
