The James Island Festival of Lights

The James Island Festival of Lights

For 29 years, the James Island Festival of Lights has been a favorite holiday event in the Charleston area.

Each winter, the James Island County Park transforms into a winter wonderland filled with more than two million twinkling lights and holiday festivities. A three-mile driving tour brings visitors through the park so that nobody misses out on the light displays.

In addition to the light displays, the James Island Festival of Lights features festival train rides, an enchanted walking trail, old-fashioned carousel, portable climbing wall, Santa’s Sweet Shoppe, concessions, shopping, and more.

This family-friendly event runs every evening from Nov. 9 through Jan 1.

Attractions & Events

Visitors to the James Island Festival of Lights love taking a ride on the train that winds its way through the park, going for a spin on the old-fashioned carousel, watching ornate sand sculptures come together, browsing through the gift shops, listening to live music, and watching light displays set to music.

Each year, the Charleston County Parks and Recreation Commission offers additional features and fun events for visitors to take advantage of when they come through the James Island Festival of Lights.
