Third Annual Edisto Music and Shag Fest
If you’ve been waiting all summer for the Edisto Music and Shag Fest then your wait is now over as the summer’s final “hurrah” begins today at noon at Bay Creek Park.
This is the third year for the festival, which features arts and crafts, vendors of all kinds, bands, a DJ, and lots of food and drinks. Tonight, live music will be performed by The Headliners from 7-11 p.m.. There will be s shag competition at 9 p.m.
On Saturday the event will open at 10 a.m. and feature all of the same vendors. The Out of Towners will perform from 2-6p.m. and the East Coast Party Band will play from 7-11 p.m. The shag competition will start up at 9 p.m. on that day as well.
Admission is $6, but free for children 13 and under.
And for all of you out there who don’t know the first thing about how to shag, don’t worry about; just show up, watch, and learn. Rumor has it that several regional shag groups will compete at the festival.
Thankfully the weather is supposed to be nice out at the shag festival. Today’s high should be around 86 degrees with just a 20 percent chance for some rain. There should be a nice breeze as well, which will help to keep things cool and prevent mosquitos from landing on shaggers and bleeding them dry.
Saturday’s weather will be much of the same, although the chance for rain goes up to 30 percent.
If you’re in the area, be sure to come out and experience Edisto’s end-of-summer festival.
