Weather Report: February 20, 2012
By now you’re probably get sick of hearing how we’re having such great weather down here, so if you’re feeling jealous about Edisto’s lack of winter, then you might be pleased to know that we’re supposed to get a slew of cloudy and/or rainy days.
Today will be sunny with highs in the upper 50s and a low of around 40, but then Tuesday the clouds will roll in and stay all the way until Friday. Expect highs throughout the week in the upper sixties and lows in the fifties. There will also be some storms throughout the week and some could be severe, so if you’re visiting, don’t be surprised if the power goes out.
By Saturday, the scattered storms of Friday should be long gone and clear sunny skies will be overhead all weekend. The highs should be right around 60 on both days and it will be cold at night with lows in the upper 30s or 40s.
Since this week could be a rainy one, visitors might want to venture off the island. In celebration of Black History Month, try visiting the Slave Relic Museum in Walterboro. This museum has a collection of African American artifacts, documents, photos, and memorabilia that cover the past 300 years of southern history.
The museum is open from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays. It is located at 208 Carn St. in Walterboro. Admission is $6 for adults and $5 for children. Contact the museum at 843-549-9130.
