Weather Report: June 1, 2013
Storms are in the forecast this week, but it’s the time of year when the forecast always calls for storms. So here’s what’s in store.
Today’s high should be in the low 80s with a low of 72 degrees. There’s a slight chance for rain and the wind might pick up in the afternoon. Overall, today should bring plenty of sunshine to the area.
There’s a 30 percent chance for some isolated storms and rain on Sunday. The high should be around 83 degrees with a low of 75 degrees.
That chance for rain and storms will increase Monday to 60 percent. The high will drop down to 81 degrees with a low of 75 degrees.
The highs for the rest of the week will hover in the low 80s during the day and in the low 70s at night. There is a slight chance for rain and thunderstorms, but there should be ample sunshine each day.
What’s interesting to some who check the weather reports for Edisto on a regular basis is that the forecast is generally inaccurate. There are a few reasons for this. To begin with, the conditions being reported aren’t always on Edisto Beach or close to it. Sometimes they come in from Beaufort. Sometimes Charleston. Sure, those places are nearby, but it’s important to get as close to the source as possible.
Then there’s my dad’s take on the weather. He always says “it’s sunny at the beach” even when it’s raining in Charleston. For some reason, it’s always been true, probably because Edisto is amazing like that.
So, be sure to take advantage of the weather while you’re here this week. The ocean temperature is 76 degrees and perfect for taking a dip. Plus, it’s not incredibly busy yet, so there’s time to take advantage of the shops and restaurants before they get incredibly busy.
